The Suriname Drydock and Shipbuilding Company S.A. is located in
Suriname, South America and was founded in february 1959 and has since
then grown out to a well equipped shipyard with activities and
experience in carrying out major ship repairs and new buildings of
different type of vessels. At the shipyard a workforce of 56 skilled
welders, plate workers, mechanics and painters are daily efficiently
performing quality work to vessels of customers.
Maintenance, cleaning, corrosion protection and repairs are being
carried out yearly on about 85 shrimp trawlers, ferryboats, oil tankers,
tug and push boats, barges, passenger vessels and ocean freighters.
Facilities

One floating drydock of 49.50 x 22.00 x 1.60 meters with a width
of 18.00 meters between the wing tanks and a lifting capacity of 1100
tons.

One synchro mechanical lift of 30.00 x 12.00 x 1.40 meters with a
width of 7.50 meters between the side structures and a lifting
capacity of 300 tons.

One slipway with a capacity of 100 tons and one for new buildings
and repairs up to 600 tons for vessels with a length of 70.00 meters.

A machine shop for repairing and machining shafts, bearings,
propellers and different parts.

Affiliation of
In February 1995 the SDSM started with propellers repair according
to standards of ISO 9000 under license of VAN VOORDEN Repair B.V. in the Netherlands.

As per 1 December 1997 Damen Shipyards, Gorinchem – The Netherlands has
appointed SDSM as her representative in the Republic of Suriname. |
